The last week of summer 1 term has been full of fun and hard work. I was very proud of our Wenhaston rounders team, who played against 6 other schools in the Year 3/4 rounders tournament final. Congratulations and well done to you all. This Friday was a lovely day as we went to Vicarage Grove again to look at the Bluebells and our bug hotel. Whilst we were there we used our sketch books to make observational drawings. Check out our photos below. (Photos coming soon!!!!)

Half Term Holiday
Friday 27th May
There will be no set home learning over the holiday, but I would like you to carry on reading and also if you get a chance to practice your maths on active learn and looking at any big maths questions you struggle with on the weekly challenges. Remember to use your prompt sheets to help you.

Happy Holiday!

Saturday 21 May 2016

Another busy week for Class 3. We had a rounders competition against Edgar Sewter, Bramfield and Holton Primary schools. We did very well and won all 3 matches. We have the finals next Tuesday at Earsham Primary against all 6 schools in our pyramid.

In our maths lessons we have been using the computers to help us with our maths skills on active learn. We completed 'Trolley Dash' and 'Discount Shopping' problem solving. We have also been playing mental maths games this week in groups to help improve our rapid recall answers.

Friday 20th May
Maths- Your home learning this week is on Active Learn. You do not need to play every game I have allocated you, but I would like you to at least complete one at the level you choose to complete. I will be doing my Tuesday lunch time club for anyone who cannot do their work at home.
English- We have been spending a lot of time in class focussing on spelling patterns to improve our spelling. I would like you to create a reminder poster for the classroom of these patterns and examples of words that follow them. Remember there are always some exceptions! This will be good revision for our end of term spelling assessment next week.
REMEMBER- i before e except after c, tion (Shun) endings become tious. (caution becomes cautious) Words with ce endings become cious. ( Space becomes spacious) double consonant is a double letter because the o is the sound rather than the name of the letter. (Hopping) cial and tial words follow this rule: cial after a vowel (facial) and tial after a consonant (essential)

Please come and ask if you need any help with these.

Friday 13 May 2016

Class 3 have been enjoying the sunshine this week and we have been doing a lot of our learning outside. We have been working on our problem solving and team building skills. Our project with Adnams has also been continuing and we now have a company name for the school. We are called 'Vegetables R us!.'

Home learning
Friday 13th May
Maths- This week I would like you to complete the money sheet I have given you. I have put an example of the method ‘Frog’ we have been using in class to help you.
English- This week I would like you to write a letter to a friend telling them all about James and the Giant Peach. Do you recommend it or is it a book to avoid? Who is in the story? What are the best bits? Have you enjoyed reading the story so far?

A reminder, home learning instructions are also on our class blog if you forget to take diaries home. Spare sheets are kept in our home learning box so help yourself to another one if you need it!

Spelling patterns this week have been ending in 'tious' and 'cious.' precious, spacious, superstitious, gracious and many more.

Tuesday 3rd May-Friday 6th May

In our P.E lessons we have been working in teams to complete challenges. This week we were moving in our boats (hoops) across shark infested waters, hoping to reach the other island. Above are some pictures of how we did it.

Bob the dog has also been visiting us this week in class 3. Some of us read with him on our story chair.

At lunch time some of us have made lego creations. Here is what we came up with.

Home Learning
Friday 6th May
English- We have been reading James and the Giant Peach in class since the start of term. We have noticed how James’ feelings have changed throughout the book; from feeling sad to feeling happier after discovery the peach. I would like you to complete the time line activity for your home learning this week. You may want to draw pictures and write sentences below on a bigger format to the one I have given you.
Maths- This week you have 2 money games to play on active learn. If you are unable to play these games at home, there will be time on Tuesday during lunch time to complete them.
