In today’s maths lesson we were working with multilink cubes,
Numicon and Base 10 in order to help us understand area and perimeter. First of
all we spoke about what the terms ‘area’ and ‘perimeter’ actually mean and how
we measure them. We decided that the perimeter of a shape is the distance
around the outside and a shapes area is the total amount of space the shape
covers. Then we split into 3 groups, with one group sitting near and using the
Numicon, another group using the Base 10 and the final group using the
